White Laces - “Deep Moves”

White Laces is back with a new single (streaming thanks to Stereogum) from forthcoming 7” (“Deep Moves” b/w “Ascend” 7”) this coming summer.  As a follow-up to the full length Moves, “Deep Moves” hits a little harder and namely, goes a little deeper, so to speak.  The band still has its famous fuzz and heaviness, but this time there is a twang to the dueling melodies.

White Laces - INTERZONE

White Laces put together a few live tracks and studio tracks from the past year and released this awesome album.  This is perfect to tide us over until the new shit comes out this year.  Make sure you listen to “Crawl/Collapse” featuring Ben Williams (Tungs, Bad Grrrl Records) on saxophone.

Also, Innerloupe Productions has made a video using White Laces’ “Trading” (if you don’t mind a little hippie mumbojumbo).

White Laces - “Heavy Nights” (directed by Lurid Pictures)

White Laces premiered the new video for single “Heavy Nights” on the Moves record yesterday via Stereogum.  Here is the video in all its splendor.  You may recognize Lurid Pictures (from Harrisonburg) from directing the Eternal Summers’ video “Wonder.”

The scene opens with a writer sitting and hallucinating seeing a beautiful woman clad in white.  He writes in his little book the beginning of the story, and we’re taken there.   There is a slow-motion house party where people are dancing, and it looks like he sees the woman in white there.  And when they lock eyes, it’s like they are the only ones in the room.  Our protagonist received a playing card with an address written on it, presumably where the next party is.  The guests at this house are a little creepy.  He steps outside into an alley and sees his mystery girl, whom he kisses passionately at a particularly climactic point in the music.  As the guy walks out of the alley and remembers clips of making out, he sees the woman in white go into an alley.  When he follows her, he’s punched by a mugger, during which time he sees flashes of his lady in white and finishes writing his story.  At the end we are left with wondering what was real and what was imagined.  We see the mark of the mugger on the guy’s mug, and we realize that some of it WAS real and not just his story.

This video is pretty trippy and cerebral.  Enjoy with a side of beans.

White Laces have a few shows coming up including a house show on 11/30Brooklynites and Phillyvillians can catch White Laces on 12/14 and 12/16, respectively.

White Laces - Moves

Holy crap!  Stereogum has just made White Laces’ new album Moves available for streaming!  I cannot wait to get into this, but I thought I’d go ahead and clue you in to listen for yourself.  Expect a review posthaste!

EDIT - Oh yeah, Soundcloud changed its settings and now it’s impossible to post albums instead of songs.  Click the Stereogum link to hear the rest of the tracks.

EDIT #2 - I was mistaken.  I just had to click a few more things to get the album code.  Enjoy!

White Laces - “Invocation”

Styrofoam Drone premiered another new single from the upcoming release by White Laces.  The layers of guitars and synth are not necessarily new, but the arrangement and use of synthesizers sounding like baritone sax fast-forward this sound from the 1980s.

White Laces will celebrate the release of Moves on 8/17 @ Balliceaux with Ohbliv and DJ Mike Albrecht.  9 pm, FREE!

White Laces - “Crawl/Collapse” (video by Marleigh Culver)

Impose.tv premiered the new White Laces video today on its website.  The video, a smattering of video taken from riding around our city, looking at the clouds, buildings, and the road, was made by Marleigh Culver.  The song is a hazy, lovely pop song, and the music turns even a simple car wash into a magical, psychedelic experience.

White Laces will play @ Strange Matter 8/5 with Wild Nothing and Super Vacations

Also, don’t miss White Laces’ Record Release Show/Party @ Balliceaux 8/17 with Ohbliv and DJ Mike AlbrechtFREE!!

White Laces - “Crawl/Collapse”

White Laces just released a teaser track from the forthcoming LP, Moves (to be released August 21).  “Crawl/Collapse” takes the listener somewhere and lets him wander around for a while.  The song has vocals for the first third, but the last chunk of the song goes into all-instrumental intergalactic guitar territory.  Get caught in the hypnotic guitars and flickering electronics.  The drums remain a steady bastion in the ultimate glittering drone.

White Laces plays @ Strange Matter on 8/6 with Wild Nothing and Super Vacations.  This all-ages show is $15.
