Luggage - “Adjectives”

The Luggage boys released a video recently, and it’s all about “Adjectives.” Sampling “Unpack Your Adjectives” on Schoolhouse Rock, Luggage emcees float and sting on top of the elementary song.  The video features the boys riding down the road on those low bikes, but I gotta say it looks like they are straight reppin big wheels, another homage to childhood. (Edit: Turns out they ARE adult-sized Big Wheels.  Also, it so happens that this video is the last of a series of 4 by Kristopher Cox aka Awesometron of 7E Films called Luggage Party WeekendCheck out the previous three!)

No BS Brass Band - “RVA All Day” (directed by Shaun Lilley)

No BS Brass Band assemble!  In this new video from No BS, Richmond is in trouble from alien invaders and it takes the sound of horns to combat the intruder effectively.   The special effects in the video are 100% realistic-looking. Well, maybe not, but the effects are trippy, cartooony, and intergalactic enough to convince me.  Look out for some call-and-response cheer-leading chants.

The band has its fourth album (also titled RVA All Day) on the way.  The band members just listened to the test press, so it’s right around the corner.  No BS also just signed with a Japanese distributor - takin’ these sounds INTERNATIONAL!  Also No BS will be performing at Floyd Fest!

Other releases on the way include:

- LIVE at Montrose Studios- Live Concert DVD/ Digital Release

- Fight Song : A tribute to Charles Mingus -EP— Vinyl/ Digital

No BS will be playing @ Balliceaux on 2/28 to celebrate the DVD release.  Also No BS @ Balliceaux 3/21

May 17th is the RVA All Day record release show date, also at Balliceaux!

Noah-O feat. Family Bidness & Ms. Honey - “Looking Down” (dir. by Chris Kae; prod. Heliqx & Nay The Producer.)

Noah-O is back again with a new video featuring Fam Bizz and Ms. Honey.  Ms. Honey’s hook of “Looking down on you haters…” is a pretty catchy phrase.  Fam Bizz starts things off with a piano softly in the background.  From the scenery, it looks like perhaps Norfolk or VA Beach.  Even though the video takes place at night, there is still a lot of light. Noah-O joins a little after three minutes, and he’s on point as usual.  Gotta love the Popeye’s blip during his rhymes.

This track comes from the forthcoming album, Thug Wilder’s Revenge set to drop 2/18

J Static Planet X - “Hate Me Now Pt. 2” feat. and prod. by Corey El

Keep your eyes on J Static this year, because he’s already dropped a track produced by Corey El (“Hate Me Now Pt. 2”) and a single featuring Niko, “Twisted Up.  The former has a bumpin’ beat and hits hard.  Pop that sucker on in the car and you might be speeding.

“Twisted Up” starts off with a sampled and manipulated bell chime and the percussion sounds like a bunch of dudes in an alley clanging metal trash can lids.  This shit is on point.  Niko pipes in and reps real.

Ms. Proper- “Get It Started” (dir. by Soul Live Media)

Richmond’s Ms. Proper wants you to “Get It Started” in her new video directed by Soul Live Media.  Big ups to Andrew Necci @ RVA Mag for premiering this video on the RVA Mag site. Honestly, he really does a great job of describing Ms. Proper’s Kingdom-wristband-flashin’ video:

“She’s up in your face throughout the track, spitting fast, complex rhymes with barely any breathing room and carrying the whole thing off with a confidence in her talent that is entirely merited. As quick as she’s spitting, her complex rhymes are always on point, and her on-camera presence is electrifying…” ~ Andrew Necci/RVA Mag

White Laces - “Crawl/Collapse” (video by Marleigh Culver)

Impose.tv premiered the new White Laces video today on its website.  The video, a smattering of video taken from riding around our city, looking at the clouds, buildings, and the road, was made by Marleigh Culver.  The song is a hazy, lovely pop song, and the music turns even a simple car wash into a magical, psychedelic experience.

White Laces will play @ Strange Matter 8/5 with Wild Nothing and Super Vacations

Also, don’t miss White Laces’ Record Release Show/Party @ Balliceaux 8/17 with Ohbliv and DJ Mike AlbrechtFREE!!

New Video By Darkest Hour @ Metalsucks.net

Darkest Hour has members from both DC and Richmond.  The band just dropped this incredible video, “Severed Into Separates” from the latest album, The Human Romance.  The video feels like a video game and was filmed in Hungary.

Noah-O - “Blowed” (directed by Jay Gregory)

Noah-O has put out a chill new video called “Blowed.”  “Blowed” basically means “wasted” or “crunk.”  The video footage becomes disjointed, slower and blurry as its goes, resembling the process of partying.  Then it all rewinds back to a chick walking down the street until the screen blurs into oblivion.  I’m lovin’ the Rhianna-looking chick with the fabric-looking earrings.  She looks like she can hang, just sayin’.

Tungs - “Tapestry” (directed by Alex Criqui)

Tungs (pictured below) has just released a video for “Tapestry,” a song from the Sisters split 12” with Heavy Midgets.  The collaboration goes a little further with Charlanne McCarthy of the Heavy Midgets starring in the video taking place in Hollywood Cemetery.

Tungs has a FREE show (sugg. donation $5) this Sunday (5/13 - Mother’s Day, y’all) @ The Nile to kick off the Sisters release and tour with:

The Diamond Center (RVA psych rock darlings)

Heavy Midgets (RVA “astral-punk”)

Tideland (Sterling, VA shoegaze)

Apache Radio - “Power Tower”

Holy DayGlo, RVA!  Apache Radio has made a video for one of their singles, and their savagery looks pretty fun.  Let’s hassle some squares!

Apache Radio plays the Camel THIS THURSDAY (3/29) with:

People’s Blues of Richmond

Toy Soldiers
